Airbus Reveals Plans for Urinals to Replace Some Toilets

During an impromptu talk during the Farnborough Airshow earlier in the week, an Airbus source said that urinals would make sense on large jets like the A380, better utilizing space and reducing overall lines. The source said that the aircraft maker is seriously considering the stand-up toilets. Reducing “overall” lines is key here though, as this would create a bathroom only for men, something that Airbus is concerned about. Additionally, there are concerns with the smells that are associated with urinals.

The idea was brought up as Airbus is in the process of updating its lavatories due to a fault with the door closing on some of its aircraft.
