There is no denying that safety is important when it comes to flying, which is why you see a safety demonstration before every flight. It is certainly important that passengers pay attention, and many airlines put a great deal of effort into producing safety videos. (Side bar: I always think it’s interesting that airlines screen the safety video after you should have already done almost everything in the video…)
Delta is one of the airlines that seems to be constantly changing their safety video, perhaps in order to keep it fresh for seasoned travelers. Over the years, their videos have ranged from the more “vanilla” instruction-type featuring international flight attendants, to the seasonal holiday-themed one, and even to one that is filled with internet memes.
Well, they have just uploaded a new safety video that will be debuting on October 1, 2016. This time around, the video has been transformed into a video game.
I am not a big gamer, but I still found the video to be entertaining. If anything, I appreciate the progress bar on the top right 😛
In many cases, this seems to be the trend for many new safety videos—they are now more entertainment than practical instructions, but that might not be so bad. I think it’s fair to say that many people don’t pay attention to safety demonstrations at all, and if an interesting video can draw a few extra sets of eyes to the screen, that could be a good thing.
But as if a video game-themed safety video wasn’t enough, Delta is launching an actual online game to go with it, called Legend of Safety. You can play exciting games that involves tasks such as clearing the aisle, fastening your seatbelt (oooooh), and staying seated (literally you just have to hit no keys to earn points) on their website here.
Now, where do I redeem those Biscoff bonuses?
