Uber Partnering with…Sears?! Earn Shop Your Way Points for Riding Uber.

by Enoch

It’s no doubt that the retailer Sears has been struggling for the past few years. In fact, they have been operating at a loss for the past 5 years. In an attempt to turn around, they launched the Shop Your Way (SYW) loyalty program, where customers can earn points by spending at Sears and even partners. It’s a bit like a cash back portal, and already you can ear n points say, when booking a hotel with Hilton.

According to Reuters, Sears is launching a partnership with Uber. By linking your Uber account to your Shop Your Way account, you can earn $2 in loyalty points per ride. The partnership expands beyond riders. Drivers that sign up with Uber can earn up to $1,000 in SYW points, and existing drivers in selected markets can also participate. Additionally, Sears Auto Center will now be one of Uber’s preferred maintenance providers. Drivers can get 50% off oil changes, and receive 30% back in points on labor charges.

To celebrate the launch, Sears is also running a “$10,000 Sweepstakes.” Each ride counts as an entry, and 1,000 riders who linked their accounts will receive $10 in SYW points each month.

This is an unexpected partnership, for sure. But nonetheless, I’m always up for more ways to earn points by doing things already in my routine. You can link your account within your Shop Your Way portal here.
