Virgin America First Class Shoe Sold for ~$100,000

Virgin America recently produced the “Virgin American First Class Shoe,” a unique pair of kicks that feature many aspects of their First Class product. For example, the shoes are made with Italian white leather, a stainless steel seat buckle, and the Virgin America logo. On the technology front, the shoes also have moonlighting, a USB port, a WiFi hotspot and even a video screen.

The pair of shoes was co-created by Virgin America, Eleven Inc., and SearchnDesign in Milan, Italy. Only one pair was created, and will be delivered in a display case. Eleven Inc. made a video to explain the craftsmanship and the features of the shoe.

The shoes was placed on eBay for auction, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the charity Soles4Souls. The auction just concluded today, selling for $98,877.77, after receiving 65 bids. I supposed they didn’t really expect the buyer to actually wear it, but I kind of want to see in person now…
