tIHG Rewards Club has released the full list of the properties that will be eligible for PointBreaks promotion from October 31, 2016 – January 31, 2017. The PointBreaks promotion enables members to book reward nights for just 5,000 points per night.
PointBreaks are perhaps one of the best hotel deals, sine IHG points are relatively easy to come by. For example, IHG often run promotions that allow you to buy their points for less than 0.6 cents apiece. Currently, they are offering up to 100% bonus on purchased points, so you can actually buy points for 0.575 cents apiece.
There are also ways (like book Points + Cash and then cancel) that will allow you to buy points at 0.7 cents apiece. This essentially allows you to buy a night for as little as $30. You can also transfer them from Chase Ultimate Rewards, though that’s admittedly a poor use of UR points.

This is just a preview, so you won’t actually be able to book stays for 5,000 points yet. You can visit the PointBreaks booking page once the promotion goes live. Availability is limited, so I wouldn’t plan anything specific to these destinations yet. However, it’s worth keeping them on your radar.
In the past, PointBreaks have been prone to abuse, since many people would just book up all the available nights on the first day, regardless of their intention to stay. IHG now only allows you to book two PointBreaks reservations per hotel during the offer. However, you will still have some flexibility, since IHG allows for free cancellations on just about all award nights.
