AMAZING Delta Business Class Availability between NYC and London Through End of Schedule!

by Enoch

Delta can be really stingy when it comes to releasing award spaces, especially in premium cabin. However, right now there’s a ton of availability through the end of schedule for flights between New York (JFK) and London (LHR)! On many flights, there are even enough seats for the entire family! Here is what award availability looks like for late April through early June, for 4 people! The dates with 70,000 miles/person represent “saver” availability.

This is an especially great time to redeem, since Delta is running a flash sale on award travel in Delta ONE between the US and Europe. You can book a roundtrip ticket in Business Class for just 99,000 Delta Skymiles, instead of the usual 140,000 miles (a 41,000-mile discount). The flash sale is only good for travels between March 1 and June 30, 2017, and you have to book by tomorrow (November 16, 2016).

Some of these award seats are on flights operated by Virgin Atlantic, so they won’t be eligible for the flash sale. However, there is also a decent amount of flights on Delta’s own metal, which are eligible. This could be a great opportunity to fly the entire family to London during the early summer travel season!

Delta ONE is actually a pretty solid Business Class product. Many of the available flights are operated by their Boeing 767 aircraft, which feature staggered seats. Passengers get a fully flat bed and direct aisle access.

You can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Delta SkyMiles in a 1:1 ratio, though American Express does charge an “excise tax offset fee” for the transfer. It’s pretty minimal, though, at just $0.0006 per mile. This means a 70,000-mile transfer would cost $42, and a 99,000-mile transfer would cost around ~$60, on top of the taxes/fees that Delta levies for the flights themselves.

Alternatively, you can also redeem just 90,000 Virgin Atlantic miles for a roundtrip Delta’s New York-London flight. Virgin Atlantic is a transfer partner with both American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards points, at a 1:1 ratio. You can also redeem 125,000 Alaska miles for a roundtrip itinerary on Delta metal, though I think there are better ways to use 125,000 Alaska MileagePlan miles (it will more than get you from the US to Asia on Cathay Pacific in Business Class, for instance).

Enoch, excellent post thanks. Would you recommend to your Juicy Mile clients to use MR poimts on the DL 99K redemptions or the more asperational award partners like Singapore or ANA? How would you use your 100K MR points? Thanks.

Thanks for the heads-up! We even got the 99k deal here in flyover-land. No need to position to the east coast to get a March nonstop to Paris. You are right — AMAZING.
