A lot of folks in this community probably know about Casey Neistat, the YouTube star who did daily vlogs, a good number of which were about traveling. You may have seen his famous video about how to get upgraded to Business Class “every time.”
Or perhaps you remember when he lost his complimentary Concierge Key status with American Airlines, and decided to “break up” with American.
Of course, JetBlue promptly offered him complimentary Mint status, and he later did a review of the JetBlue Mint product.
But maybe one of his most watched videos is his “review” of Emirates First Class. He was flying Business Class on the outbound, but got a free upgrade on the return. He was so genuinely excited about Emirates First Class, and amazed by all it has to offer (which I can completely relate to, like my first time flying them). That video now has over 26 million views.
Casey Neistat has almost 6 million subscribers on YouTube, and his videos have garnered over 1.2 billion views. However, just a week ago, he somewhat abruptly announced that he is ending his his daily vlogs.
Well, there appears to be a reason for that. According to the New York Times, Casey Neistat and his 11-person team will transition to work for CNN, to hopefully draw more audience to their network. Neistat and his company/app Beme will exist as a separate entity, but will likely be creating a new video series for CNN.
Other than flying, he also vlogged a lot about his adventures, both domestic and around the world. For example, there was a video of him “snowboarding with the NYPD,” and him visiting a crazy water park in Germany. I am excited to see what he is working on, and I think it will be a fun addition to CNN.
