Alaska Airlines officially closed its acquisition of Virgin America today, which means Alaska Airlines is now the 5th largest US airline. Earning and benefits reciprocity will start December 19, 2016, and the frequent flyer programs will start merging on January 9, 2017.

To celebrate the merger, Alaska is launching a new campaign, called #Twogether. As part of the campaign, there is also a giveaway, where you can earn 2 round-trip tickets to anywhere Alaska or Virgin America flies.

Alaska Airlines is giving away 1,200 round-trip tickets to celebrat the merger through the Twogether campaign.

They are giving away 100 tickets everyday from today until Christmas day (1,200 tickets total). You can enter once every “entry period,” which starts at 9 am ET and ends at 11:59 ET on the same day. This means you can enter up to 12 times (once a day) on their #Twogether website here.

Residents of the 50 states and DC over 18 can enter to win, and each winner will receive 2 certificate for a round-trip ticket on Virgin America or Alaska Airlines in Economy. As always, winner of giveaways may have tax responsibilities, and Alaska is valuing the each prize at $1,100.

I see this contest but it is confusing as to if it is applicable now, being, in 2018. Why would I want to try win a trip if the contest is not valid. Please reply. Thank-you
