Just yesterday, Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines announced that they are terminating their partnership in April 2017. But at around the same time, Delta Air Lines is actually beginning a (unrelated) partnership with Jet Airways. The two airlines announced that they will be codesharing flights way back in 2015, but it looks like the agreement finally went live on December 15, 2016.
You can now redeem Jet Airways miles for award travel on Delta flights.
You Can Now Redeem Jet Airways JetPrivilege Miles for Delta Flights
As part of the agreement, members of Jet Airways’ JetPrivilege can now redeem miles for flights on Delta’s metal. Per a press release from Jet Airways:
Effective December 15, 2016, JetPrivilege members are able to earn and redeem JPMiles on Delta’s entire network of 323 destinations in 57 countries across 6 continents. With over 15,000 daily flights network-wide, Delta has the US covered from its key hubs Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York (JFK) in the US and at Amsterdam (Schiphol), Paris (Charles de Gaulle), and London (Heathrow) in Europe.
Jet Airways is already a partner of American Airlines and United Airlines, so if you have a stash of Jet Airways JetPrivilege miles, there is now one more airline (Jet Airways’ 30th, as a matter of fact) for you to redeem miles for.
You can use Jet Airways’ JetPrivilege miles for award travel on a number of airlines.
It does not appear you can use Delta SkyMiles for award travel on Jet Airways flights just yet, but that feature will likely become available soon.
Jet Airways JetPrivilege Partner Award Chart
Jet Airways has a pretty…simple award chart, to the point that often you don’t really even know how many miles it will cost you for a particular award ticket. They have a region-based chart, with 13 different regions, as follows. Allow me to preface this by saying that the “etc” (or lack thereof) were not my doing; these are taken exactly from the Jet Airways award chart.
- Z01 (Australia & New Zealand): Australia, New Zealand
- Z02 (China): China, South Korea, Hong Kong
- Z03 (SEA): Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos
- Z04 (India & SAARC): India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal
- Z05 (Middle East): UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman
- Z06 (South Africa): South Africa, Kenya, Seychelles, Tanzania, etc.
- Z07 (North Africa): Mali, Ghana, Nigeria, etc.
- Z08 (Europe): UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Greece, Turkey, Sweden, Switzerland
- Z09 (Northeast America): Newark, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc.
- Z10 (Southeast America): Atlanta, Daytona, Carolina, Florida, etc.
- Z11 (Southwest America): Texas, Mexico, Los Angeles, etc.
- Z12 (Northwest America): Seattle, Denver, Portland, San Francisco, etc.

This is what I meant by “over” simplicity, and there are a lot of “holes” and questions in terms of where airpots fall. For example, what region is Japan in? How about the Maldives? Where is Hawaii, which can often be a sweet spot for award receptions with partners on US legacy airlines?
As far as the actual number of miles required, provided that you can figure out what region your origin or destination is in, the chart is actually pretty self-explanatory. The chart below details the number of miles required for a one-way flight in Economy. For Business Class redemptions, simply double the number of miles. For First Class, triple them.

For most of us that don’t earn Jet Airways miles through flying, the only notable transfer partner is really SPG; you can transfer Starpoints to JPMiles in a 1:1 ratio, and as always, SPG will throw in 5,000 bonus miles for every 20,000 transferred.
There aren’t a whole lot of sweet spots on the chart that I am noticing, especially since Jet Airways miles aren’t exactly easy to come by if you don’t fly or credit to them. But feel free to chime in if you see anything that catches your eyes! Otherwise, I think for the most part this will be beneficial for those who want to redeem Delta SkyMiles for travel on Jet Airways flights (which isn’t live yet), instead of the other way around. Still, it’s nice to have options, and those holding Jet Airways miles sure have a lot of partners to choose from!

My question is can I redeem my Delta Skymiles for India domestic travel on Jet Airways and if yes what is the process? I called Delta they said yes redeemable but then I asked Jet they said this is answered best by Delta!! But do not find any process for doing this on either of their websites ? Many thanks
@Manoj – You cannot book Jet domestic travel on Delta’s website. All you need to do is call your local SkyMiles service center and they can book the flights for you.
