Last year we saw the introduction of a few new First Class product, with Singapore Airlines’ new A380 being one of the most notable ones. The new Suites class is completely redesigned, and you can even turn two adjacent seats into a massive bedroom with a double bed. The product was announced in November 2017, and can now be enjoyed on the Singapore-Sydney route (on SQ 221 and SQ 232).
Hong Kong and London Will Get the Singapore Airlines New A380
Singapore Airlines has now confirmed that they are launching the product in two new markets. The airline will fly the new A380 to London starting February 16, 2018, and to Hong Kong starting February 18, 2018. However, this is still a “limited release” of sorts, since only a few flights out of the week will feature the new product.

Suite Class on Singapore Airlines’ New A380
Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class all got a refresh on the new A380. However, what really shines is the Suites Class product. There are only 6 Suites Class seats onboard Singapore Airlines’ new A380, configured in a 1-1 layout on the upper deck. Each seat boasts a 21-in wide swiveling chair, as well as a separate, 76-inch long bed. Two adjacent seats can be converted into a bedroom of sort, with a double bed and two separate seating areas.
Waitlist Award Space Available
When the route first launched in December 2017, Singapore Airlines didn’t make any Saver award space available—not even the waitlist. Therefore, the only way enjoy the new Suites Class on the A380 was to pay cash, or shell out 150,000 KrisFlyer miles for it.
With two new destinations launching, it appears Singapore Airlines is both getting more generous and stingier. On the Hong Kong route, a 4-hour flight, Singapore is at least making one Suites Class seat available as a waitlist on most days I spot checked. Here’s SQ 856 on May 13, 2018. The flight will no saver availability is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.
Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines is not marking any Saver award “waitlist-able” for the Singapore – London flights. In fact, they are only making one seat “waitlist-able” at the Standard price. 210,000 KrisFlyer miles and I have to waitlist? I think I’ll pass…for now…
Do you plan on flying on Singapore Airlines’ new A380 on any of the new routes?
