United Passenger Gets $10,000 Voucher for Involuntary Bump!

Well, it seems that tweeting paid off for Allison Preiss, a communications director from DC. Preiss was on a flight from Dulles Thursday morning that was oversold due to a broken seat. She began tweeting when the gate agent was looking for a volunteer for a $1K voucher. With no one volunteering, United announced that the lowest fare passenger would be de-boarded. Preiss found out it was her. She was given a $10,000 voucher (the new maximum after the dragging incident) and two $10 meal vouchers (which she originally planned to use at Pizza Hut). She somehow continued to tweet/complain that she wasn’t also given lounge access! For $10,000 I would have been more than happy to sit at Pizza Hut all day! I wonder if United was following along with her tweets when they decided what compensation to offer…
