Citi TYP to Asia Miles Transfer Bonus — Last Chance Before June 22 Devaluation

Is this perhaps the most underhyped promo of the year? Citi is currently (and has been for the past several days) offering a 15% transfer bonus for ThankYou Rewards point transfers to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, which can be used to book award flights on dozens of airlines around the world.

The value of this promo is even greater if you can score an award flight with Asia Miles before a new, less valuable award chart comes into effect on June 22nd.

Asia Miles can be applied to reward travel with any Oneworld member airline, such as American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Japan Airlines, or Qantas. Check out a complete Asia Miles redemption guide here, or if you don’t have time to delve into the rules and availabilities of Oneworld bookings, an award booking agency like Points Pros or Juicy Miles can help.

The timing of the transfer bonus is curious, considering the impending program change. As a reminder, Citi transfers to Asia Miles generally take one or two days.

Happy travels to those of you who might be able to take advantage.

  1. Thanks for the ‘heads-up” on this. Citi ThankYou offered a similar bonus for Asia Miles in 2017, for a 20% transfer bonus. I believe the window in 2017 was early August-early September for the 20% transfer bonus. A 15% bonus is not as good as a 20% bonus, but like you say, I won’t complain.
