American Express is offering Platinum Card holders a new perk: $100 in annual shopping credit at Saks Fifth Avenue after the card is enrolled..
Like the Monthly Uber credit, cardholders will get up to $100 in automatic statement credit for purchases at Saks, split into two $50 windows. One $50 credit will apply from January through June, the second will apply from July through year end after enrollment.
For those able to productively use the credit (and most anyone should be able to… more on that below), the $100 helps eat away at the industry-topping $550 fee that now comes with the card. Total statement credits now equal $500 annually, though the Uber credit is spread out at a pace of $15 per month.
The credits are bundled with perks like five-times points earning on airfare or hotels, Centurion Lounge access, Lounge Collection access, Delta SkyClub access, Priority Pass membership, TSA PreCheck and Global Entry credits and sign-up bonuses that have previously hit 100,000 Membership Rewards points.
The current welcome offer for the Platinum Card is 60,000 Membership Rewards points after $5,000 in purchases in the first three months, still enough for a round-trip Europe flight or one-way business class seat.
A quick scan of the Saks Fifth Avenue website yielded a diverse array of options for soaking up each one of those $50 credits.
- Vigo White Leather Mules on sale for $80 after the statement credit
- A pair of Puma Evo-Knit Cloud Sneakers for $35
- This Diesel Robyn Distressed Denim Jacket for $35
- A Tivi sleeveless Stripe Tank for $62.50
- A Herschel Supply Co. leather backpack for $35
This list contains mostly sale items. Needless to say, it’s pretty easy to use $100 at Saks.
