2018’s Top 50 Beaches in the World

by Zoe

Travel site FlightNetwork compiled their 2018 list of the world’s best beaches by soliciting feedback and reading opinions of 1,200 travel journalists, bloggers, and editors. Rankings were based on the following qualities:

  • Sheer Untouched Beauty
  • Remoteness
  • Sand and Water Quality
  • Annual Days of Sunshine
  • Average Annual Temperature

I’ve actually been to the top 3 and I must say I’m a bit surprised by the 2018 winner – Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach) which is located on the Greek island of Zakynthos. The beach is gorgeous and remote, but from 10am until around 4pm, there are double-decker tourist boats coming and going every 10 minutes or so.  The beach is completely swamped.  However, if you can organize your own private or semi-private boat, getting there early in the morning or staying past 4pm is absolute bliss.

Here are the top 10, but check out all 50 at their site.

  1. Shipwreck Beach – Zakynthos
  2. Whitehaven Beach – Queensland
  3. Hidden Beach – El Nido
  4. Praia Do Sancho – Pernambuco
  5. Tulum Beach – Quintana Roo
  6. Grace Bay – Turks and Caicos
  7. Seven Mile Beach – Negril
  8. Anse Source D’argent – La Digue Island
  9. Maya Bay – Phi Phi
  10. Varadero Beach – Cuba
