Marriott announced last year that there would be a grandfathered Lifetime Platinum Premier tier and that accounts would be reviewed for qualification in January 2019. Since then, members have been worrying as to whether their accounts would actually be correctly identified come January, especially given the IT issues thus far.
Based on member response, we’re adding more flexibility for Lifetime Platinum Premier qualification. Now, SPG and Rewards members who achieve 750 nights and 10 years of Platinum status by December 31, 2018 will be grandfathered into that Lifetime tier, which starting in 2019 will no longer be available to earn. Rewards members can also qualify under the current criteria (750 nights + 2M points) through year end. If I will not be grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite, will I have the ability to earn into this level in 2018? Yes, members can earn Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite in 2018 if they achieve 750 Lifetime nights and 10 years at Platinum Elite status. This requirement is only for 2018 and will not be continued in future years. Members will receive notice of this Lifetime achievement in January 2019.
Well, January is almost over and while no notification has come, Marriott has updated my profile – visible on their website and the SPG and Marriott apps. WOW, no fight at all, no documentation required, I’m shocked! I had screenshots ready to go!
I qualified by combining my years of elite status and nights across SPG and Marriott, though the vast majority of my nights are courtesy of SPG. For me the combined totals were 755 nights and 13 years of Platinum status.
Despite my lifetime nights, I was quite far from earning Lifetime Platinum status with SPG and even further from Marriott’s Lifetime Platinum Elite. In this case, the merger has had a huge benefit on all my future Marriott stays with Platinum Premier Elite for life now!
The launch of Marriott Bonvoy in February will replace Platinum Premier Elite with Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite.

Congrats, Adam! It was a nail-biter for me as well — I had 785 nights and about 2,200,000 lifetime points; given recent history and numerous points having been mysteriously lost from my account, I wasn’t sure this would happen without a huge argument.
Nevertheless, today I enjoyed the same pleasant surprise as you.
Now, perhaps you can persuade program management to do something nice — a metal card (Preferably at least Titanium), luggage tags, etc. that would be most appreciated. A few free nights or a discounted vacation trip wouldn’t hurt either.

Ok talked to Marriott Titanium is nothing more than new lipstick for PP, nothing more. All this takes place in Feb. Just as WOH changed the lipstick on theirs ( and it sucks ) so will the Marriott simply rebranding. Nothing to get all excited about.

However, those of us who were left wondering if Marriott would actually honor their commitment for Lifetime PP status, grandfathered under the old program rules, have been wondering if that would actually come to pass. It seems that this time, it did.
Lifetime PP (soon to be Titanium) is a one-off thing; that particular designation will not be available, going forward. So, for a few of us, this is a big deal. After 35 years a Member, it’s a modicum of recognition and a passel of useful benefits.
The main point, as I’m sure most readers know, is that travel is no longer the pleasant experience it one was, during the 20th Century. Those without status get virtually no quality service or consideration at all from large chains, be they hotels or airlines. Those with highest levels can usually be assured of at least being treated as paying customer — that’s not nothing, these days!
Yesterday my Marriott account had Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite, was relieved. Have 954 Lifetime nights, 13 years Platinum. Today it says you’re Platinum Elite, what the heck! Has anyone mentioned being rolled over yet to Titanium? Luckily I took screen shot of Lifetime listing yesterday, buy completely annoyed.

It depends on where you see. If you are in the Marriott app,you may see your name and “Platinum Premier Elite” below. If you swipe to the left, then you’ll see your lifetime status. Hopefully you’ll see “Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite”.
Do you know if the current updates are a mistake…… As of the other day, I show i have lifetime platinum…. I am not sure this is correct though. There were two years in question…

I am lifetime titanium but what exactly does that mean ? The website and app doesn’t explain anything over lifetime platinum. So can I be lifetime ambassador too? Would love to know the difference

So far I have 771 nights and 13 years of Platinum and yesterday I discovered that my new position is Lifetime Titanium Elite.
Does anybody know if we will receive some sort of package to have reached this level? Like an envelop with new card, some bag tags or so?
I had Lifetime Platinum with Marriott under the old rules and was then grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite after the SPG merger and now to Lifetime Titanium Elite after the Bonvoy rebranding. All worked smoothly, and I didn’t have to do a thing. Hope that helps.
