United Gets Crushed in January On-Time Arrival Stats

by Zoe

Woof, United took a beating in the on-time performance stats for January as reported by OAG yesterday. The carrier finished in 4th place far behind the top 3 carriers.

United flights arrived on-time in January just 73.6% of the time, a full 5 percentage points below 3rd ranked American which finished the month at 78.2%. Both carriers were forced to deal with the Polar Vortex at Chicago O’Hare, though ORD is United’s largest hub while it’s the 3rd busiest for American. United finished behind the other major US carriers with regards to cancelations as well, with 4.6% of flights canceled in January.

Southwest on-time arrival for January was measured at 80.9%, while Delta once again finished at the top of the pack – 82.9% of flights arrived on time.  Delta canceled just 1% of flights for the month, the lowest of any US carrier.

yes … because on-time rates for flights for unruly brats on their annual orlando trip clearly has any relevance for business passengers flying between LGA and ORD…..

United’s issues are the primary reason I choose to fly Delta for work travel.
