Two United Airlines Liveries Unveiled: Her Art Here

by Chris Dong

Just when you thought United was done with new paint jobs, here’s two more. While this isn’t exactly going to be fleet-wide like its “Out with the Gold, In with the Blue” paint design, the new liveries will fly high on two United Boeing 757s.

And how these two designs came about is the coolest part.

United’s Her Art Here Campaign

The new paint jobs were created by two women artists as part of United’s “Her Art Here” contest to spotlight underrepresented women artists. United notes that while over 50% of today’s artists are women, less than 13% of their work ends up making it to displays in museums. That’s a large disparity that United is helping address by providing a traveling canvas.

This is how it worked. United cast an open call for women artists to submit their designs representing either the New York or California markets. Then, last month, the public voted for their favorites from a selection of finalists. Now, United has unveiled the winner for the two liveries — one representing the New York City region and one representing California.

Their traveling canvas will likely fly between the premium transcontinental markets between New York-Newark and San Francisco / Los Angeles.

Here are the winning liveries:

And here’s the video showcasing the two artists — Corinne Antonelli and Tsungwei Moo — alongside their work. In addition to having their art featured, they’ll work alongside renowned artist mentors, receive $10,000 in cash, and 100,000 MileagePlus award miles.

What do you think of the winning designs?
