Fantastic Award Space Availability To Israel On Flying Blue

by Anna

There are a few different ways to get to Tel Aviv with points and miles but award availability can sometimes be scarce. If you can’t find award tickets on the non-stop flights, booking through the combined loyalty program of Air France and KLM is a good option right now. While Flying Blue has dynamic award pricing, the program still considers Israel to be a part of Europe. So the saver level award is just 25,000 Flying Blue miles in Economy or 53,000 miles in business class one way.

With Flying Blue, availability can be pretty unpredictable and award rates could be all over the place. I’ve seen numbers as high as 227,000 miles one way for business class from Tel Aviv to New York-JFK. However, when you find the coveted lowest level awards, you can save a lot of points and miles compared to other programs.

Great Flying Blue Availability In Both Business and Economy

New York To Tel Aviv

Right now, I am seeing great availability for later summer and later in the fall including August, early September, and November. Economy one-ways seem to be starting around 28,500 miles while business class one-ways have awards starting at 64,000 miles.

Not surprisingly, later in September doesn’t have a lot of dates with business class seats available. September to October is a major holiday season in Israel so cash prices go up and award space disappears quickly. Here again, the price isn’t as low as it could be, but not bad all things considered. The 69,000 miles space is for a business class one-way seat.

Looking a little further out in November, award space in economy looks even better. Actually, it’s a steal at just 25,000 miles in economy. November is a really good time to visit Israel — the weather’s very pleasant. It’s not too hot and there’s still very little rain.

Chicago To Tel Aviv

I also ran a couple of searches from Chicago (ORD) and also found good amount of award space. Pay attention to connection times, however, as they can be quite long. It could be a plus or a minus, depending on how you like to travel. Here, a one-way in business class can be had for just 53,000 miles.

Coming back from TLV, there’s also good amount of award space. Here’s an example of the lowest fare award I found from Tel Aviv to New York-JFK.

Taxes and fees aren’t cheap at around $250 USD each way for a business class award, so keep that in mind.

How to Earn Flying Blue Miles

Flying Blue is a transfer partner of all the major transferable currencies, including American Express, Chase, Citi, Marriott and Capital One and the points transfer instantly. If you had Israel on your mind, now is a good time to jump on this opportunity and save a lot of points. Ideally, 53,000 miles in business class is the best redemption, but if you can’t find rates that low, even 69,000 points is not a bad deal in business.
