Air New Zealand is joining the short list of airlines that offer free Wi-Fi onboard its flights — no strings attached. The airline piloted free Wi-Fi for several months during the holidays, and now the Star Alliance carrier is going full throttle with free Wi-Fi for all.
Which Air New Zealand Planes Have Wi-Fi?
Of course, you have to be flying on a Wi-Fi equipped plane to take advantage. Currently, most of Air New Zealand’s Boeing 777 jets are Wi-Fi enabled, which are typically seen on long-haul routes to the US and London. The airline’s new Airbus A321neo jets now flying between Australia and New Zealand also have Wi-Fi. Notably, Air New Zealand has yet to install Wi-Fi on their Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
It looks like a satellite-based Panasonic Wi-Fi which is definitely one of the slower providers but free is free.
This looks to be a no strings attached bonus upping the passenger experience for Air New Zealand customers. Our contributor Sarah just wrote up a guide to New Zealand which conveniently, you can now read for free on your flight over to Auckland.
Next up, will we see Delta keep their commitment to add free Wi-Fi on their flights too? Time will tell.
