Alaska Airlines Passenger Threatens to Kill Everyone

An Alaska Airlines passenger threatens to kill everyone on his flight, forcing the plane to return to Seattle.

The incident took place shortly after the Alaska Airlines Flight 422 had departed from the Seattle-Tacoma Airport. The flight was bound for Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. It was a late-night departure which took off around 11 p.m. on Saturday evening. A male passenger onboard became belligerent screaming “I will kill everybody.”

There has been a short video taken by a passenger on the flight circulating on social media of the incident. In the clip you can see the man standing in the aisle shouting as he marches up and down. He clearly screams “I will kill everybody. Accept it. Die in the name of Jesus!”  The man wore a face mask the entire time and is seen being confronted by two passengers. We see two men; one in front and other from behind, take down the ranting passenger.

Eventually others come in to assist and a flight attendant produces restraints as the man is forced into a seat.

Here’s the video:

Police Officer Onboard

According to a statement by the airport, the man was brought under control by flight crew, two passengers plus a Chicago police officer who was on the flight headed home.

According to accounts shared on social media, after the man was subdued, a flight attendant made an announcement that the plane was going to turn around and return to the Sea-Tac airport. The flight was canceled and passengers were re-booked on the next available flight to Chicago.

According to KOMO News, the Port of Seattle Police removed the man, and he has been charged with harassment. He was booked into the King County Jail.

I’m not sure what to make of this other than we’ve seen a lot of strange behavior in aircraft in recent years. Incidentally, we know he was checked for a mask, but maybe they should have checked his temperature? Regardless, I hope the man gets the help he needs and hopefully the passengers were not inconvenienced  too much in their travels.

If he was yelling “die in the name of Allah” the passenger reaction would have been a lot less subdued.

That said, looks like mental illness or a reaction to drugs/alcohol.

Mental illness + religion = ‍♀️
Not such a good combination without a multidisciplinary treatment
