by Eric

Yesterday afternoon, United Airlines reportedly kicked off Roc Nation rapper Vic Mensa from his flight on his 23rd birthday.

In a Tweet that has since been deleted, Vic said:

“Thnx United for kicking me off my flight for talking to a depressed fan who needed help on the phone when the plane wasn’t even flying yet.”

The rest of Vic’s Tweets use language that is not appropriate for all audiences. Though they were deleted, they were screen captured.

In response, United Airlines did send out a response to the rapper asking him to directly contact them.

What is the rest of the story? Was he talking on the phone when the flight attendants told him to shut off all electronic devices? Was he unwilling to stop talking so the airplane could depart, thus inconveniencing all the rest of the passengers? Flight crews are almost thoroughly professional, want to get the airplane off the gate, airborne and customers to their next destination. There is more going on here than just “they kicked me off the airplane for talking to a depressed fan.”
