After ten years, O’Hare (ORD) is back at #1 in terms of being the “World’s Busiest Airport” for 2014. The title was taken from Chicago by Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), who this year lost more traffic than O’Hare (both airports were down). ORD traffic declined  -0.2% (with 881,933 arrivals/departures) while ATL was down -4.7% (868,359 arrivals/departures). The title will likely stay with ATL (as it did in 2013) when based solely on passenger traffic.

If we were to exclude domestic departures, the title for World’s Busiest International Airport would go to Dubai for the first time ever – It’s Official – Dubai overtakes Heathrow as World’s Busiest International Airport
