July 3rd won’t be the first time you’ll be able to earn Delta base miles for flying with Virgin Atlantic, a fully reciprocal frequent flier partnership actually first launched in 2002. That partnership ended in 2004 and obviously didn’t provide the same perks as those announced yesterday with Delta’s current 49% stake in Virgin. Nevertheless, it’s interesting to take a look back at the rates which happen to be quite similar to the ones announced yesterday…
Under the previous program both Delta and Virgin Atlantic customers earned 100% in Economy, 125% in Business, and 150% in First Class. The new program will offer 100% in Economy, 125% in Premium Economy K & H, 150% for Economy Y and B and Premium Economy W & S, and 150% for Upper Class.
