It’s not often you see business class deals originating from the US to Europe, but this British Airways deal is a solid fare from New York City to Berlin for next summer.
The deal includes flights operated by joint venture partner American Airlines with the key seeming to be an Aer Lingus-operated (BA flight numbered) return through Toronto.
If you’re looking to stock up on tier points or you’re just looking for a British Airways deal for a cheap (for a premium cabin) getaway to Europe next summer, look no further.
According to Google Flights, the typical cost for business class tickets to Berlin from New York City run $2,500 to $2,950. With this fare, you can bring your cost to less than half that with a connection in Toronto.
The Deal

Example Bookings
Exact availability is not clear, but we were able to find this deal starting in late March 2020 through September meaning plenty of peak summer availability:
Maximize Your Deal
Crediting this flight to the British Airways Executive Club will net you 380 tier points and up to 22,758 Avios depending on your status with Executive Club.
To maximize your savings while purchasing through the American Express Travel Portal, put the purchase on the American Express Platinum or Platinum Business Card to earn 5 Membership Rewards points for every dollar spent.
If you don’t already have the Platinum Card in your wallet, now is a great time to get it since it comes with a generous sign-up bonus, an excellent selection of transfer partners, and more.
The Upshot
Economy class deals across the Atlantic have become commonplace, but business class prices from a premium market such as New York City have usually remained high. This is also a chance to check out Aer Lingus’ excellent transatlantic business product (which includes free WiFi) on a British Airways booking.
The availability is scattered, so if you’re planning a trip outside the dates noted be sure to try it out to see if there’s a deal available.

At least for the sample flight I checked, only YYZ -> DUB on Aer Lingus ticketed to business. LGA to YYZ and DUB to TXL ticketed to economy. Trip options included either a 4 hour or 5 hour layover in Toronto. Transferring from business to economy at 5:30am in Dublin won’t be fun.
This is a nice option worth sharing but definitely not a luxury way to reach Berlin.
Unfortunately, AA only offers economy LGA-YYZ and EI only has economy on shorthaul. But depending on the date, there are one-stop options through Philadelphia (domestic first + lie-flat) or you can also take BA from YYZ (with reasonable connections) on the outbound through LHR with euro-business on the connection. On the return, there isn’t a way around Aer Lingus but the connection times are not bad.
