During a layover at LAX last week, I was invited to take a tour of the almost complete room renovations at The Concourse Hotel. The property will become the Hyatt Regency LAX once all renovations are completed. The big question is when that will be…I was told not to quote anyone, but it does not seem like they will meet the rumored end of February time frame that’s been reported. Based on my observations, I think late March or early April is a bit more realistic.

I’m having technical difficulties with the closet picture but it’s just a standard closet with safe, the one in the Junior Suite below is similar.
Few Random Thoughts
I really enjoyed my stay. I was on the 5th floor in a old and tired room that screamed Radisson (the previous branding of the hotel), though it was perfectly adequate until the renovated floors are completed. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was very friendly, talkative, and eager to help.
After being cooped up in a plane all day, I decided to walk and get some “fresh air” between Terminal 4 and the hotel. T4 is the furthest terminal from the hotel and it took me around 20 minutes door-to-door. The path you take is somewhat confusing and its a bit like a real Frogger game crossing some of the busy roads. They also have a very dependable free shuttle fleet that makes pick ups quite often if you are the less adventurous type.
Here is a walking map (mad MS Paint skills) if you want to make the trek:
For the Diamonds out there (probably everyone now that Hyatt granted status like candy late last year), there will be no lounge for quite some time as construction is still being planned.
The hotel had amazing soundproofing, you will literally forget the airport is directly across the street.
The breakfast buffet was closed so I ordered off the menu. For an airport hotel they had some unusual and tasty choices. Food came out in a respectable amount of time.
