Further Cuts to Emirates Chauffeur-Drive, This Time Impacting Qantas Codeshares

by Enoch

For the longest time, Emirates has offered (and arguably still does) one of the most generous chauffeur-drive programs, whereby they provide free chauffeur service to and from the airport for passengers confirmed in Business or First Class.

With a very small number of exceptions (such as their sub-3-hour hop between Hong Kong and Bangkok), the service was available to all Business and First Class passengers, including those booked on codeshares or on an award ticket. However, as Ben from One Mile at a Time reported, Emirates made the service available only to those booked on Qantas or Emirates ticket stock as of January 1st, 2015. They went as far as removing bookings that were made prior to this announcement.

Well, I am booked on an Emirates flight for April and was checking their website for the terms and conditions of chauffeur-drive when I noticed a new bullet. New language in the Terms & Conditions of Emirates’s website seems to reveal that Emirates is further cutting this service:

Emirates currently operates routes between Asia and the South Pacific including Sydney-Bangkok, Melbourne-Singapore, and Melbourne-Kuala Lumpur. The highlighted new clause effectively means that the passengers traveling on these routes will no longer receive chauffeur-drive service if booked on Qantas’s ticket stock.

As far as I can tell, no official announcement was made by Qantas or Emirates and I am unsure when this new clause was added (definitely after 1/1/2015, though) or whether those passengers with bookings on codeshare flights will have their reservations canceled.
