One of the newest American Express Platinum Card benefits is complimentary Hilton HHonors Gold status. Having recently dropped from Diamond to Silver, this was a very welcome addition. I signed up for the benefit on Monday, received confirmation from Hilton on Tuesday, and saw the status reflected online this morning! That’s some pretty quick processing! My favorite part of having Gold status is the return of complimentary breakfast at Hilton and Conrad hotels and resorts.

Of course, this is just one of many benefits available to Platinum Card and Business Platinum Card members:

There’s unlimited wifi via the Boingo American Express Preferred Plan…

AMEX Boingo

10 complimentary Gogo in-flight internet passes each year…

AMEX GogoAMEX GoGo Passes

Other perks include a $200 per year Airline Fee Credit (that’s per calendar year..so you can receive it twice during your first membership year), a statement credit every 5 years after you apply for Global Entry ($100) or TSA Pre✔ ($85), access to AMEX Centurion Lounges / Delta Sky Clubs / Airspace Lounges, and SPG Gold status.

Just last night, we stumbled upon the Centurion Suite at the Barclays Center, another cardmember benefit. This worked out great as we were attending a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! from Brooklyn, when Jay-Z (one of the guests) surprised the audience with free tickets to last night’s TIDAL X: 10/20 charity concert and then personally walked us over to the venue.  The complimentary tickets were all the way up top…but then we spotted the AMEX Centurion Suite! After checking my card and ID, we were given access, scored a table with a great view (there are actual seats within the suite as well, though you need to arrive really early to secure them), and had waitress service all night.  Jimmy Kimmel was just a few suites down. For future concerts, I now know that I can purchase the cheapest tickets and head up to the AMEX Centurion Suite for a quality view (if it’s an artist that I’m comfortable not being seated up front for). PS – No Barclays cards in the suite, only AMEX cards are accepted.
