Olympic Organizers Admit So Many Tickets Remain Unsold for Rio 2016

by Eric

Are you contemplating a trip to watch the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this summer? If these are potentially in your travel plans, and you have not yet purchased your tickets to watch an event live, you are in luck.

Ticket director Donovan Ferretti let reporters know this week that there were a total of 6 million tickets available, with 2 million still unsold. Of those tickets unsold, 800,000 are for football, which is surprising given Brazil’s love for the sport. Keep in mind that organizers announced several years ago that about 7.5 million tickets would be available, which would suggest that sales are even slower than anticipated.

Do you have plans to attend any of the Rio 2016 events?
