Pilot Says That Lyft Driver Dumped Him in Random Parking Lot After Realizing Cheap Fare to Airport – Video

by Adam

A pilot for a major airline captured video of his Lyft driver dropping him in a random parking lot after realizing that he would only make $6 on the trip. The pilot recorded the exchange with the driver on his iPhone.

“I’ve done nothing wrong and you are kicking me out of the car?”

“I have the right to refuse service”.

Lyft says that they take customer service matters like this very seriously and told the pilot he would never be paired again with the same driver. The pilot said he was shocked with that response as it leads him to believe the driver is still working for Lyft.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything wrong the Lyft driver did. These guys are vastly underpaid, they have to hustle and play games with surge & what not in order to make a reasonable living. Folks are upset they aren’t getting the benefits of ‘slave labor’ rates & express moral outrage w/o appreciating the underlying dynamic.

Nothing wrong with this? Would you feel comfortable being driven to an unknown parking lot just because your driver wasn’t satisfied with his pay for the journey he or she accepted? What if there was no mobile reception where the pilot was dropped? Once you get in the car, there’s a reasonable expectation to be driven to your destination.

It’s one thing not to accept the journey before the pax gets in. I understand that. These people need to make a living and they can choose higher-paying journeys if that suits them. But kicking pax out midway because you won’t get paid to your liking is akin to extortion, as the driver is basically saying pay more or get lost.

I believe there is a race to the bottom between Uber and Lyft. The fact that this driver wasn’t kicked off the platform is appalling. I think if you ask anyone who regularly takes one of these services, everyone will have at least one story of a nightmare driver followed-up by non-apologetic customer service from the platform.
