“Risk of Bullet Fragments in Meal” – Passenger Tweets In-Flight British Airways Menu Warning

by Zoe

Earlier this week on a fight from London to Chicago, author Michael L. Brown shared what he thought was a strange notice inside his British Airways in-flight menu. The “Home Counties venison stew” included the following warning

“Due to the nature of the product there is a very small risk of bullet fragments that could be found in this meal.”

Brown told The Sun that “the two flight attendants I spoke with had never seen or noticed this before but got a good laugh out of it. One joked with me that this warning could be so all the Americans on board couldn’t sue them. I told him he could well be right.”

Many Europeans responded that the warning is not all that uncommon for game meat in several European countries. British Airways echoed that sentiment:

“These warnings are there as a precaution, and are common practice. We source the best British ingredients for our inflight menu and this is no exception.”

Brown ended up going with the cod!

Not in air, but I had a restaurant meal with that warning and did actually find shot in the meat. Was an “interesting” souviner from my dinner.
