This Year’s Marriott Game Promotion Isn’t Nearly As Good, But Still Worth It

by Bill Shuman

Last year, during NFL games, Marriott Rewards members could score Twitter touchdowns with the “Extra Points Sunday” promotion. Almost every Sunday, Marriott gave away 1,000 points just for answering a Twitter question correctly. This year, Marriott is running another promotion, “29 Ways to Stay”, in its place.

When the promotion was introduced on Oct. 4th (later delayed to Oct. 10th) the Terms of the offer stated: “Limit one (1) Instant Win Prize per person.” This made it so that once you won, there was no point in revisiting the site. As of October 18th, Marriott changed their offer terms to read “Limit one (1) Instant Win Prize per person, per day.”

It’s worth logging in everyday through Nov. 8th to start accumulating free points and, if your lucky, free stays.

Offer Details

In order to potentially win free Marriott points and stays all you need to do is use this link, login into your account, and agree to the compliance checkbox. From there you will be given a set of game cards and play the memory game provided. After each match they will give you a piece of trivia or fact around the hotel brands. Once you have matched all of the trivia questions you will get a message saying if you won a prize.

Odds

Marriott published an odds chart so you can see the odds of winning a particular item. The most common winning item is 50 bonus points, valued by Marriott at 0.45 cents that is given away 50% of the time. The highest in value is the Grand Prize (not listed below) valued at $30,596.80 that consists “of twenty-nine (29) 2-night stays, one (1) at each of the 29 Marriott Brands for winner and one (1) guest. Stays includes 2 night hotel accommodations at each of the 29 Marriott Brands for one (1) standard room (based on double occupancy).” Marriott is even kind enough to give you 5 years to complete these stay. Plus if you are a United States resident they will include a $7,000 check to cover the tax responsibility for winning.

Final Thoughts

By the end of this promotion I might only end up with ~500 Marriott points if I’m running at expectation. However, I figure for a few clicks of the mouse that it is still worth my time as those points add up over time. Not to mention there is a possibility of winning a much larger prize. I’d love to hear the results of PMTTP readers to see if any of you have been lucky!
