When the news of Hyatt acquiring both Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) and Two Roads Hospitality (TRH) broke last fall, speculation ran strong about what properties would join the program. Where would World of Hyatt members be able to redeem points? The SLH partnership broadened the portfolio over the winter.
Breaking It Down:
Thompson + Hyatt
And today, Hyatt finally announced that Thompson Hotels would be the first Two Roads brand to join their portfolio. The Thompson-Hyatt partnership opens up a wide array of unique, luxury, hip, properties for travelers.
|The Beekman||New York City|
|Gild Hall||New York City|
|The Cape||Cabo San Lucas, Mexico|
These eight properties will allow Hyatt loyalty members even more places to earn and redeem points across distinct hotels and resorts. It is worth noting that the Thompson Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, is not participating in the program.
When Will These Properties Be Bookable?
Thompson’s hotels will be available for Hyatt members to book on March 28, 2019.
Background On Thompson Hotels
Thompson Hotels, which was founded in 2001, has always offered sophisticated luxury and a discerning portfolio of lifestyle hotels to its clientele. Besides the hotels listed above, Thompson also boasts several properties under development, including Thompson Hollywood in California, Thompson D.C. in The Yards, Thompson South Beach (Miami), and Thompson San Antonio.
The Two Roads And Hyatt Partnership
In October, Hyatt announced its acquisition of Two Roads Hospitality, a leading leisure hotel management company with hotels in 23 different countries. In addition to Thompson Hotels, Two Roads also owns Alila Hotels & Resorts, Destination Hotels, Joie de Vivre, and tommie (which does not appear to be included in the Hyatt portfolio). Two Roads Hospitality is a Virtuoso member; it remains to be seen which properties will stay in the program.
The Two Road/ Hyatt partnership offers guests a wider choice of luxury hotels in unique destinations. Mark Vondrasek, chief commercial officer of Hyatt Hotels Corporation said that Hyatt is
…committed to quickly integrating these distinctive brands into Hyatt’s portfolio, allowing our guests to discover more unique destinations and connect to exclusive and rewarding experiences across their travel journeys.”
Thompson is the first of four brands to join the Hyatt portfolio. Joie de Vivre will join in May 2019, while both Alila and Destination Hotels are listed as “coming soon.”
