Trip Report – Awesome Business Class on SriLankan A330-300 – AA oneworld Redemption LHR-CMB

by Adam

Wow, what an unexpected award redemption! The 10.5 hour flight was on a brand new A330 from London (LHR) to Colombo (CMB). Awesome service, a great seat / lie-flat bed, wifi, yummy food and a large movie library on a fast and responsive IFE system.

The reverse herringbone seat was super comfortable for lounging and the lie-flat bed was great for a four hour nap. USB and power plugs are available at each seat, which is essential if you plan to use the international wifi. You’ll also receive a full size pillow, smaller pillow, and blanket. Champagne, a menu, headphones, eye shades, and socks were provided prior to takeoff.

I had a ton more pictures to share, but unfortunately there was an iPhone / water incident in Sri Lanka and those are no longer available. A few other points I want to hit on though, as well as a few pictures from SriLankan’s website.

  • Wif was available for the entire trip, though you were required to purchase a package. It wasn’t super cheap, but wasn’t outrageous either.  A 100MB package was $25 USD
  • The Airbus featured a nighttime starry sky as well as colorful mood lighting
  • The IFE library was impressive and the moving map displayed multiple outside views
  • Service was fantastic. Drinks were constantly refilled and someone was always checking in to see if we wanted anything additional

Killing it with two pillows. Ha! Was the starry sky comforting or did it prevent good sleep?
