How I Booked A Nearly Free Las Vegas Room With The Wynn Slots App

by Anna

Las Vegas hotels aren’t usually very expensive, unless there are major events going on in town. Unfortunately, I had to be in Las Vegas on one such weekend in October.

I am not sure what was going on, but the hotel prices were through the roof. However, I did figure out a way to book an almost free stay at Wynn Las Vegas…

I’ve only been to Vegas twice before, and had previously just walked through the Wynn’s lobby. From what I saw, I loved the Wynn’s flower-filled public spaces and the whimsical decor. I was looking forward to finally being able to stay there. I was hoping it was going to be a good stay and, I am happy to report, Wynn didn’t disappoint.

How I Booked My Almost Free Room at Wynn Las Vegas

After I complained about Vegas’ high hotel prices to my friend for my particular weekend of travel, he suggested I check out the Wynn Slots app.

I downloaded it on my phone and it seemed straightforward enough. Here’s how it worked:

You play slot games for free, earn “coins” and “gems” that later could be used to book a room at Wynn Las Vegas. It took me a couple of months of playing the game on my phone (you can put it on a somewhat of an auto-play) to earn enough “gems” for two nights.

When I first started playing, I didn’t know about some strategies that the more advanced players use to get “gems” faster. But, I figured, there’s a Facebook group for everything, right? I found  Wynn Slots Tips and Tricks group, spent some time reading the FAQs and the posts, and started implementing the new things I learned.

I was very close to booking a completely free stay (yes, that was possible) when unfortunately, the app underwent an update or “enhancement.”

Under the new rules, you have to spend $100 to move on to the next level within the app and to be allowed to book rooms.

In order to do that, I had to make some in app purchases through a variety of retailers. So instead of just using my credit card on something I didn’t need, I started thinking, what did I want to purchase and still earn “gems”? Well, I was looking for iTunes gift cards so that is what I went to snag.  Might as well earn some bonus points from my credit card as well.

If I used the Chase Ink Business Cash, I could get 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards points at office supply stores, like Staples. Staples sells iTunes gift cards.

Also, I looked at my Chase offers, and saw that I had 15% back at Lowe’s on my Chase Freedom and Chase Sapphire Reserve cards. Lowe’s sells dozens of gift cards, including iTunes, so that’s a great way to save too. My American Express Hilton Honors Business card also has a spend $100, get $25 back offer for Staples.

So I bought the iTunes gift cards by making the necessary purchase through the app and booked my two nights stay.

The rates for my dates were in the $300-$400 range per night, plus tax and resort fee. I was so happy I spent less than $100 on my discounted iTunes gift cards instead of paying these rates.

The Wynn Slots app took a bit of time to master (and I wished I’d found it and the Facebook group a little bit earlier). Nevertheless, I consider this a success — I had to be in Vegas on certain dates and the prices at all hotels, even the more modest ones like The Linq, were very high.

Have you successfully used the Wynn Slots app?

One additional strategy to consider is that you can get a multiplier for the daily bonuses by paying $10 or $100. I paid for a multiplier and then used Bluestacks to create a macro which would harvest the bonuses almost immediately after they were due. That $100 also qualified for the spend needed to get to the right tier so that you can book a room.

In total I spent about a week monitoring Bluestacks to ensure it was harvesting bonuses. Then I also spent about 30 minutes a day for that week also doing the daily challenges. In the week’s time I earned enough gems to book a 3 night stay (Sat-Tue).

Also the Wynn Slots booked rooms do not charge resort fee. I looked up the cash value of my booking and it was $966 for what took me $100 and 4 hours of my time.

Even if you’re not going to pay for the multiplier I would still mostly use the app through Bluestacks as you don’t need to monopolize your phone’s time.

Another “ Enhancement“ came today. You now have to spend $200 for “free” rooms.

Be wary with joining the Facebook group mentioned. If you join, just read different comments and learn as you go but don’t dare ask a question, you will be screamed at and belittled.
