Delta In-Flight Entertainment Now Available During Takeoff, Landing, & On the Ground

I noticed this on my Delta flight on Friday from LHR – JFK, in-flight entertainment is now available both before and after take-off. When coming around to collect headphones as we prepared for landing, flight attendants even asked if I wanted to keep my pair to continue watching the last few minutes of my movie. This actually became official Delta policy on July 27th:

Have you ever had your movie cut off on a flight upon landing right just before you have reached the dramatic conclusion? Not anymore! Starting today (July 27th), Delta will make our in-flight entertainment system available on the ground providing you with your favorite TV, movies and songs not just in the air, but even during takeoff and landing. So Delta customers will have the opportunity to peruse entertainment options while waiting for the boarding process to conclude, play the on-board trivia game prior to departure and watch the final scenes of their favorite film while arriving at the gate. And when it comes time for the safety presentation, your entertainment selection will simply pause and continue afterwards.  It’s a great way to make the most of your in-flight entertainment options (and ensure that you never miss that hidden scene after the credits!)

  1. Good! Now when will FAA and airlines discover that electronic devices, just like the airliners’ TV sets, don’t interfere with avionics and are allowed to remain on throughout a flight?
