Well, not quite the average member, but here are some details for the average Platinum member in 2012:

So the average earning is under 1000 points per night even at elite level. I like stats so this is interesting. I wonder if this is just pure earnings from stays or does it include bonus points.
@DaninSTL – No further details from SPG but I would guess that they’d want to show as many points as possible. I’m guessing it includes bonus points as well.
Can you please specify just so it’s absolutely clear what is meant here by Platinum member? Is it that a person was Platinum at the beginning of 2012 or that he became Platinum during 2012? This may lead to very different results as Platinum members’ situations may have changed in terms of work travel or hotel chain loyalty.
The set of Platinum members is not invariant under time. 🙂
@The Miles Professor – SPG hasn’t provided any more detail besides saying that these were the average results for Platinum members during the 2012 qualifying year.
Typical issue in these kinds of studies… Quoting statistics without describing your sample! 🙂
