United Airlines – “We Plan to Serve Cuba” …w/ regular commercial flights

by Adam

United Airlines said yesterday that they plan to offer regular commercial flights between Cuba and their Newark (EWR) and Houston (IAH) hubs. The announcement followed the Obama administration’s announcement that it would significantly loosen travel restrictions to Cuba beginning today.

“We plan to serve Cuba, subject to government approvals, and look forward to doing so from our global gateways of Newark and Houston,” the airline said in a statement.

The DOT said Thursday that US regulators will work with Cuba to “explore air service expansion”. A specific air service agreement between both countries would be required before regular commercial flights could begin between the US and Cuba.
