Frontier Airlines is not playing nice this holiday season. Following the lead of Spirit Airlines, Frontier has decided to increase their baggage fees from November 19 to January 5. Frontier’s website informs its travelers that:
Temporary price increases for travel from Nov 19, 2015 through Jan 5, 2016, February 11, 2016 through April 4, 2016 and from June 9, 2016 through Aug 16, 2016: Carry On bag prices increase by $5 at booking and up to 24 hours before departure, $10 at Web Check-in, and $5 at the Airport kiosk or ticket counter; 1st Checked Bag increases by $5 at Flyfrontier.com, at booking and up to 24 hours before departure and increases by $10 at call center, web check-in, and airport ticket counter or self-service kiosk. 2nd Checked Bag prices increase by $10.
As you can see, Frontier Airlines also chose to implement the extra baggage fee during the time when most colleges let students out for spring break, and for the busy summer travel season in 2016.
So despite recent deals on their airfare, Frontier Airlines is clearly finding alternative ways to meet their bottom line. Given the recent bad publicity they received from Presidential hopeful Marco Rubio, you would think they would try a little harder to win over their customers!
Will the increased baggage fees affect you and your family this holiday season?
