Le Méridien Expanding Portfolio – 30 Hotels in 4 Years, No Concern over Marriott Merger

by Adam

Le Méridien Hotels and Resorts plans to spend $300 million to expand its portfolio by opening more than 30 hotels in the next four years. The brand currently has more than 100 properties in 37 countries. Brian Povinelli, global brand leader of Le Méridien, told USA TODAY that he is not concerned about the Marriott merger:

“The perspective I have is that this combination of these two brands, it’s not creating more brands,” Povinelli says. “All the brands that will exist after the close already exist today. Le Méridien already has its place.”

One objective is for the lobby “Le Méridien Hub” to become more modern and act as a place where both locals and guests want to visit day and night. The brand will be re-entering Italy this year and plans to open locations in Saudi Arabia and Georgia (the country) in the next two years as well as multiple properties in the Asia Pacific region. Columbus and Charlotte locations are planned in the US.
