This is exciting news for Lyft, Jaguar Land Rover has invested $25M in the company and will provide drivers with a fleet of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. It’s all part of Jaguar Land Rover’s InMotion subsidiary which will work with Lyft on autonomous vehicle testing according to TechCrunch.
The collaboration with InMotion will see the Jaguar Land Rover-owned company “develop and test its mobility services, including autonomous vehicles” using Lyft’s platform. Lyft gaining more ground among automakers beyond longtime partner GM also explain why it was reported that the ride hailing company turned down overtures regarding a potential acquisition by the Detroit-based automaker.
Lyft seems to be pursuing autonomy partners while Uber is developing its own technology.
