United announced this morning that they are going with the 737-700 over Bombardier’s C Series. The carrier plans to buy 40 of the jets to compliment the 737s already in their fleet. Anticipated delivery for the new 737s is sometime in 2017. Like Delta and American, United is looking to cut their flying with smaller regional jets. The C Series, which targets the 100-150 seat market, was thought by many analysts to have overtaken the 737 as the most likely candidate to fulfill the RJ decommissions. Instead, the airline went with an update to the 737, an aircraft that first entered service in 1965!
