American & TSA Testing CT Scanners for Carry-Ons – Allow All Travelers to Keep Liquids, Gels, & Laptops in Bags

by Adam

One lane of Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) is being used by the TSA and American to test the types of security screeners normally only used for your checked baggage according to the Los Angeles Times. A CT scanner looks for bombs and weapons, but can also create a 3-D image of what’s inside your bag. CT scanners have been used for over ten years for checked bags, but the concern was that they were too big and loud to bring to the passenger screening areas.

“We already use this type of technology for checked baggage and we expect these smaller, checkpoint-sized machines will provide the same high level of security,” TSA acting administrator Huban Gowadia said.

The TSA says that if the test is successful, all travelers, not just those with TSA Pre would be able to leave their liquids, gels, and laptops in their bags, surely speeding up the screening process.

I wonder which DHS/TSA admistrator owns stock in these machines.

Remember how Chertoff got rich off the big blue radiation emitting scanners that all countries except the US banned?

End the TSA
