A Flock Of Dreamliners Make A Great Migration
Ahead of the impending hurricane situation, a flock of brand new Dreamliners all took off from Boeing’s Charleston, S.C. assembly plant and migrated northwest to Boeing’s Everett plant north of Seattle. The 747 Dreamlifter also joined the migration, per TPG.
Sadly, one incomplete Air Tahiti Nui 787-9 might not make it. Fingers crossed, big bird.
A flock of newly minted Dreamliners took off from South Carolina, seeking safe harbor in Everett, Wash.
Bomb Scare Officers: ‘Good Class’
There were some interesting details in an account of this past spring’s United Airlines bomb scare, reported by Gary Leff at View From The Wing. There were no emergency vehicles on the tarmac, passengers were required, at gunpoint, to dump their cellphones in a bin, and one officer was overheard saying, at the end of the debacle, “good class”. Also, there was some sort of instructor present?
Cathay Pacific Is In Trouble…
Live And Let’s Fly reports that Hong Kong Airlines is now installing reverse herringbone B/E Super Diamond seats on aircraft that will begin serving the United States this fall. This adds to a fast-growing list of things eating away at Cathay Pacific’s competitive advantage.
Nonstop flights to Middle East hubs and Singapore, the growing eminence of mainland Chinese airlines and now a competitor on home turf that very much appears to mean serious business.
The B/E Super Diamond seats, pictured on a Virgin Australia Boeing 777, will replace the older staggered business class seats on Hong Kong Airlines’ new deliveries.
Snakes On A Plane – Apparently Legal In Berlin!?
Russia had a problem with some snakes on a Moscow plane recently. The planes arrived from Düsseldorf in carry-on baggage but didn’t have the correct immigration documents. The were detained in Moscow, TPG reports.
The most interesting takeaway from this article: “transporting live snakes in hand baggage isn’t illegal in Germany,” where dildos have been known to set off security scares.
Oh my.
Back To The Future
United added a link on its home page for “Classic View,” a return to the old homepage that was replaced last month. The old homepage worked well. Speaking from personal experience, the new one hasn’t passed quality control. I had to reload a page three times today to get the date calendar to render properly. Hat tip to Supima, on FlyerTalk.
Delta really ought to pay attention to its also ran on this one. United may be leading the way back to the future on this one.

Citi ThankYou Points now transfer directly to JetBlue at a 1:1 ratio, matching the transfers now available to Chase Ultimate Rewards Members, per View From The Wing. Previously, Citi docked points transfers to JetBlue by 20 percent, making it a better deal to book travel through the bank’s own travel portal.
A Cadre of New Priority Pass Restaurants, Houston and Los Angeles
Fill up Texas-style before your next flight out of Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Priority Pass added not one, but two new restaurants there to its cadre of options: The Cadillac Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar in Terminal A (Air Canada, American, Delta), and Landry’s Seafood (a really nice choice) in United’s Terminal C.
American Airlines flyers at LAX Terminal 4 can now eat on Priority Pass at Campanile.
As usual, each card entry counts as $28 in dining credit.
Will Priority Pass Offer Grab and Go Service?
Collinson, the parent company of Priority Pass, made a “significant investment” in Grab, an order-by-phone fast fresh food company that serves airports, according to Lucky at One Mile At A Time.
