Nothing is below JetBlue’s CEO. That includes picking up garbage from his customers.
According to a LinkedIn post from a passenger, JetBlue Airways CEO Robin Hayes was onboard a flight and made an announcement for “seat bingo” to give away a pair of free tickets. Afterwards, he proceeded to walk down the aisle to pick up passengers’ service items — just as a flight attendant would.
Robin Hayes’ annual salary is about $3 million, and he also sits on JetBlue’s Board of Directors. It’s not clear what flight Hayes was on. Whatever flight it was, maybe the CEO was just channeling this now viral tweet…
The best part of being a flight attendant has to be when you walk the aisle saying “trash” to everyone’s face.

The culture of a company comes from the top down. With Hayes as the leader picking up trash, it positions JetBlue as a more service-oriented airline than most US carriers. Southwest might be the only airline that has JetBlue beat there. But even then, we haven’t seen Gary Kelly (Southwest’s CEO) collecting garbage.
