Jane Stewart and her sister Katherine lost their bags after a European vacation last summer. With two long layovers on their return, they decided to send their bags ahead of them on Lufthansa to Newark (huge mistake as most of us seasoned travelers know). The bags never arrived and after 30 days they applied for compensation. Check out the details from their long ordeal here. It sounds painfully frustrating, especially how hard it was to simply get in touch with Lufthansa. There’s a happy ending though, they got their bags back 3 months later and received the max payout from Lufthansa for the loss ($1,741 each).
