Earlier this week, American Airlines announced that the US Airways Dividend Miles and AAdvantage programs would merge on March 28 (Saturday) and that mileage redemption using US miles would be suspended as of March 25, 11:59 CDT.
Well, it appears that they’ve kept their word. As of this morning, the “Use Miles” check box is still available on the US Airways’ website but an error message appears if you attempt to select it.
As you may recall, I did a pretty crazy mileage run earlier in the year where I flew from Philadelphia to Las Vegas7 times within a month, each time with a direct turnaround. I earned Chairman Preferred status with US Airways as a result. This morning I logged into my American Airlines account and was happily surprised to find that my US status had already been reflected on AA with the website now showing me as an AA Executive Platinum member!
Note that none of my US miles have transferred and no upgrades (500-mile or system-wide upgrades) have been issued yet.
If you had a higher status with US, is your new status reflected in AA’s system yet?

I had Gold on US and now it says I have Platinum with AA!
My Chairman’s status has now converted over to EXP! Yeah!! 🙂
Yep – and I checked to see if I could use my systemwide upgrades, and the answer is yes!
