It’s been about six months since we’ve taken a look at announcements for new properties coming to the Starwood brands. This edition has lots of exciting upcoming properties where we will one day be able to redeem SPG points, but let’s start with the recently opened:
- St. Regis Moscow Nikolskaya opened at the end of April, located on the street connecting Lubyanka Square and Red Square
- Sheraton Lake Como opened in June after a major renovation to an existing hotel. It’s the first internationally branded upscale property in the region
- Sheraton Bucharest officially became Starwood’s first hotel in Romania with its opening at the end of August
- Le Méridien Paro, Riverfront, opened 10/21 in Bhutan with views of the Eastern Himalayas
- W Amsterdam opened 10/22 in an old Telephone and bank building

- W Sharm El Sheikh to debut in 2020
- W Punta de Mita to open in 2016 (St. Regis Punta Mita trip report coming soon…one of my favorite SPG hotels)
- W Belgrade to open in 2019 overlooking the Sava River
- Le Méridien Batumi to debut in the Republic of Georgia in 2018
- The Westin La Quinta Golf & Spa Resort to open in Spain at the Andalusian resort in Benahavis
- W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal to be first beachside W in Latin America in 2019
- Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, Los Cabos to open in June 2017
- W / Element dual-branded hotel to open in a 51 story skyscraper in Philadelphia, total of 755 rooms in 2018
- St. Regis coming to the Maldives in 2016 with the St. Regis Vommuli Resort

Mexico has a horrible tendency to over develop, it sounds like Punta de Mita is headed this way.
