Talkshow host Andy Cohen got to broadcast something a little different Wednesday. His Delta flight 412, from New York Kennedy (JFK) to Nice (NCE) did a 180 due to a some sort of nasty — and apparently confusing — toilet problem.
Cohen took to Instagram to rant about the crappy outcome.
“To the person who put a foreign object down the toilet, let me know who you are, because we’re going to find you,” Cohen said.
The flight did make an absurd flight path, heading out over Nova Scotia before making a bizzare zig-zag return to Kennedy. The plane doubled back twice. Apparently, there were second thoughts and then some about the state of toilet affairs.
In all, the double U-turn took 7 hours, 36 minutes, longer than the complete 7-hour, 18-minute flight time recorded from New York to Nice the day before.
I find it rather bizarre that Delta would turn an aircraft mid-Atlantic due to a non-critical aircraft problem. Tuesday’s flight was effectively canceled, as service to Nice resumed Wednesday afternoon at approximately the normal departure time.
Certainly, there’s no convenient service operating at the modest Nice airport, but Delta’s joint-venture hub at Paris Charles De Gaulles really isn’t that much of a diversion. Consider the abundant connecting options Delta would have to get its passengers onward from that point.
Surely there’s someone in Paris who can fix a Boeing 767 crapper.
The outbound Nice to New York passengers also got caught up in the mess. Surely this becomes a logistical headache getting 200-plus passengers in both directions accommodated on a once-daily, one-off service.

Never heard of the guy. Why is it we should we care, again?
Clearly, he’s famous… he’s on Point Me To The Plane.
