Apparently the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Toronto may soon become a St Regis according to Bloomberg. The hotel has seen all kinds of controversy over the last ten years – construction delays, developer and loan defaults, and numerous recent protests against the US president. The Trump Organization will give up the management contract for the 65-story tower that is owned by US based JCF Capital ULC. Other bidders include Hilton (Waldorf Astoria) and Mandarin Oriental.
“No final agreement is in place,” said Jay Wolf, one of the operators of JCF Capital. He declined to comment further. A spokeswomen for Marriott declined to comment, and representatives for the Trump Organization and Mandarin didn’t respond to requests seeking comment. A Hilton spokesman said the company isn’t involved in active talks.
