Luckily it was only a one hour and twenty minute flight from Charlotte (CLT) to Dulles (IAD) for one baggage handler who was trapped inside the cargo hold of UA flight 6060 operated by Mesa Airlines. United says that they are investigating the incident that occurred on New Year’s Day. While the E170 reached 27,000 feet, the hold area was pressurized with oxygen for breathing. Fox News reports that authorities are treating the incident as an accident, but many are speculating that the handler likely fell asleep while waiting for bags to be delivered to the flight. It actually happened back in 2015 when a handler passed out inside an Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle. He called 911 and banged on the walls until the plane returned to the airport. He was unharmed.
